Semester 2- Week 16 Reflect On Your Semester And Year In Biology What Were Your Successes? What Were Your Failures? What Did You Learn That You Will Never Forget?

My successes in the class was my projects because I learned how to do each and everyone of them by myself and it is a good thing because that just prove to me that if I try then I'll start to understand the concept of things. I fail to do quizzes online because its a tedious job and I have no time for it plus having to scroll down and click the right answer is kind of annoying. I'll never forget that we planted flowers outside the classroom because we were the one who planted them first and then from generation on the other students will take care of what we started.

Semester 2- Week 14 What Energy Sources Are Technology Limited? Give At Least Two Examples What Energy Resources Are Resource Limited? Give At Least Two Examples

Energy sources that are technology limited are hoover dam and solar panels. Hoover Dam provides a vast supply of renewable energy, which is fed across a significant area of the US.  This type of energy has no associated greenhouse gas emissions, although emissions were created and released during its construction phase. The solar panel make use of renewable energy from the sun, and are a clean and environmentally sound means of collecting solar energy.

Wind energy generators are resource limited, also called as wind turbines. Wind turbines are used to generate electricity from the kinetic power of the wind. They were more frequently used as a mechanical device to turn machinery. There are two main kinds of wind generators, those with a vertical axis, and those with a horizontal axis. Wind turbines can be used to generate large amounts of electricity in wind farms both onshore and offshore. The articles on this page are about wind turbines.

So are landfills, a secure landfill is a carefully engineered depression in the ground or built on top of the ground, resembling a football stadium into which wastes are put. The aim is to avoid any hydraulic water related connection between the wastes and the surrounding environment, particularly groundwater. Basically, a landfill is a bathtub in the ground a double lined landfill is one bathtub inside another. Bathtubs leak two ways: out the bottom or over the top.

Semester 2-Week 15 Write A Letter To Senator Feinstein Describing What Alternative Energy Source You Think We Should Be Pursuing. Give At Least Three Reasons Why.

Dear Senator Feinatein,
I had a couple things in mind and one of which is potential for delivering adequate power for electricity and vehicles.  I choose this one because the things that comes out of cars and trucks is what causes the environmental damage.  Which is the smog.  If we think about it we can use a lot of natural energy sources.  But of course it will take time to build resources to use but it is worth a try. Something I also was thinking about was solar panels.  People do not realize how much energy we use throughout the day.  And no one does anything when it comes to being in danger.
Fossil fuels have become a huge environmental issue and we are beginning to run out of them. There are many different forms of energy that we could be using to help save the environment and will not run out, or will last longer than fossil fuels. One alternative energy source that we could use is wind energy. It's natural and will give jobs to people since the machines need to be cared for very much. Another energy source we can use is solar energy which is also all natural. The last energy source that would be great to use is  Hydro energy. All of these are great and do not add any danger to the environment. However, on their own they don't provide much energy so it would be smart to use these alternative energy sources all together.
 Sincerely,
Ying Yi Zhang

Semester 2-Week 13 Explain What Closing The Loop Means In Terms Of Waste Management

"closing the loop" means to purchase products made from recycled materials. Recycling is a cycle. It is not enough simply to collect recyclables for manufacture into new products. So when you purchase recycle good it could help the recycling make up and expand. If you buy a recycle made item the money should most likely go to the people who made the recycle made good and with that money they should probably have people recycle more bottles, can , plastic, and etc.

Semester 2-Week 12 Should We Be Using Pesticides? Why Or Why Not? What Are The Possible Consequences?

Pesticides are substances or mixture of substances intended for preventing, destroying, repelling or mitigating any pest. A pesticide may be a chemical substance, biological agent (such as a virus or bacterium), antimicrobial, disinfectant or device used against any pest. Pests include insects, plant pathogens, weeds, molluscs, birds, mammal, fish, nematodes (roundworms), and microbes that destroy property, spread disease or are a vector for disease or cause a nuisance. Although there are benefits to the use of pesticides, there are also drawbacks, such as potential toxicity to humans and other animals. According to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, 10 of the 12 most dangerous and persistent organic chemical are pesticides.
I don't think we should use it because it is not safe and its a chemical. We should use only things that are naturally made for a safe and better way of living. The consequences of using it is really bad and why would you want to use something that would hurt your body.
Pesticides may cause acute and delayed health effects in those who are exposed. Pesticide exposure can cause a variety of adverse health effects. These effects can range from simple irritation of the skin and eyes to more severe effects such as affecting the nervous system, mimicking hormones causing reproductive problems, and also causing cancer.
